US rules keep the newest AI models from Anthropic and OpenAI offline
On June 9, Anthropic released two new AI models. Three days later, a US government export rule blocked anyone who is not a US citizen from using them, so Anthropic took both offline for everyone. On June 26, regulators let one return for about 100 approved organizations — but the public version is still offline.
